Mary von Krusenstiern, Farm Manager for Loganita, maintains vegetables, herbs and berries in Loganita’s full potential, bio-intensive culinary garden focusing on growing specialty crops for The Willows Inn on Lummi Island and Beach Store Café. She works closely with chef Blaine Wetzel at The Willows Inn and staff at the Beach Store Café to select crops and varieties, determine product amount needed, and arrange delivery times.
Mary is an accomplished organic grower with 8 years of experience managing all aspects of crop production, marketing, and farm development on small-scale, full-potential, bio-intensive organic and sustainable farms. She is a true “Jill of all trades” having been involved in every aspect of planning and implementing a successful high yielding small-scale organic farming operation. A seasoned Northwest grower, she has broad range of experience including engineering and constructing her own hoophouses and starting a mid-size CSA farm from scratch. Although adept in growing a wide variety of vegetables and herbs, some of Mary specialties include hoophouse tomatoes, gourmet Asian and European greens, and specialty radish and root crops. Mary is known for her strong work ethic, focus, dedication to organic gardening and delivering only top quality products.
Mary was born and raised in Bellingham and spent her childhood living part-time on Lummi Island. Mary is thrilled to return to the Island and be a part of Loganita and the Willows. When she is not farming, Mary enjoys hiking, running, backpacking, skiing, playing bluegrass music and enjoying the sunsets at Franks Beach.
