Located just up the road from the Willows Inn on Lummi Island, Loganita’s culinary gardens are impeccably maintained and grow vegetables, berries, edible flowers and herbs for Chef Blaine Wetzel and his kitchen staff. Loganita relies on bio-intensive farming practices that foster healthy soils, conserve space, and require low energy input while maximizing yields. Maintaining the overall health of the Loganita farming ecosystem is gentle on the environment and is the secret to growing top quality produce.
Chef Blaine Wetzel and culinary gardener Mary von Krusenstiern work together to select the crops and varieties which are featured year-round on the Willows menu. Loganita benefits from excellent sun exposure and is protected from harsh wind gusts.
In addition to supplying the Willows with farm fresh ingredients, Loganita grows specialty items for the Beach Store Café, also located on Lummi Island. While growing food is the top priority, Loganita Farms also serves to increase awareness about where food comes from, and plays into a larger vision for the sustainability of the Salish Sea region. Willows Inn guests are invited on tours of the garden.
